Christopher Smith · aka Chris The Caravaner
An Army veteran trades his boots for the open road — driving a caravan built entirely of Indian parts across every state and union territory of India. One road. One caravan. A billion reasons to fall in love.
The Man · The Mission
Christopher Smith — Chris The Caravaner — retired after fifteen proud years in the Army. He could have settled into a quiet life. Instead, he chose a louder one: the hum of an engine, the smell of rain on a national highway, and the endless, breathtaking sprawl of India.
His mission is simple and staggering — to caravan through all 28 states and 8 union territories, documenting the culture, food, fashion, technology, people, nature and architecture of a civilisation that never stops reinventing itself. Not the India of clichés. The India of morning chai, mountain passes, startup garages and temple bells.
To Indians, this is a love letter. To the world, an invitation: come and see the most generous country on Earth — before the rest of the world beats you to it.

From desert folk songs in Rajasthan to boat races in Kerala, Chris is chasing the festivals, rituals and everyday kindness that make India the world's most vibrant civilisation.
The Build
Caravan culture in India is just being born — and Chris wants to be part of its first generation. His caravan is built entirely from Indian components, proof that this country can build world-class machines for its own roads. Tap the markers to explore the build.
